Jerry Bruckheimer And The Rock Team Up To Produce Drama About 1980s Professional Wrestling For NBC
Oh, God, this is gonna go well. According to /Film, Jerry Bruckheimer, who has produced such filmic treasures as Top Gun, The Rock, Con Air, Coyote Ugly, and Pearl Harbor, as well as such television gems as CSI, Cold Case, and The Amazing Race, will be teaming up with ex-wrestler/ current non-actor actor and eyebrow cocking enthusiast The Rock to produce a television show about professional wrestling in the 1980s.
The show will produced for NBC, and âwill be a drama and explore the golden age of wrestling where the sport went from a regional attraction to world wide sensation.â
So far, only a pilot has been green â"lighted, so who knows if a season-long narrative arc will show us the pain, power and promise of such luminaries as Honky Tonk Man, Million Dollar Man, The Bolsheviks, Macho Man Savage, Brutus âThe Barberâ Beefcake, Ultimate Warrior, Bam Bam Bigalow, Ultimate Warrior, and, of course, Hulk Hogan. So yeah, itâll be like Mad Men, except instead of business suits and dignity, there will grown men in tights, feathered hair, and face paint.
Well played, NBC, well played.
What do you think of a Jerry Bruckheimer/ The Rock produced show about pro wrestling in the 1980s?
