Tommy Lee Jones Confirmed for Captain America
At some point in Marvelâs Captain America: The First Avenger, Steve Rogers might be running for his life in a water tunnel and have to shout to the top of his lungs, âI didnât kill my wife,â and at the point Tommy Lee Jones will shake his head and say, âI donât care.â OK, maybe thatâs not exactly how it will play out but it has been confirmed by Captain America star, Hayley Atwell that the Oscar winning actor has joined the cast of the comic adaptation.
Atwell appeared in an interview for LeicesterSquareTV, where she discussed the film and her co-stars. She confirmed that she had met Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan who will play Captain America and Bucky (they all saw Iron Man 2 together) but sheâs yet to meet Jones who she says she has a scene with in the film. Since the role of Red Skull has already been taken by Hugo Weaving, weâre not sure who the actor could play.
Word in the street is that he might star as âGeneral Chester Phillips, the military officer who chooses Steve Rogers for the super soldier program and who aided in his training soon after the serum took effect.â That seems like a fitting choice considering Jones is known for playing mentors to characters in top secret organizations (weâre looking at you Men in Black).
On another note, Atwell also stated that sheâs currently training six days a week so her character Peggy Carter can come across as a legitimate military professional. We hope whatever she does is a lot better than what we saw from Scarlett Johansson because her fight scene in Iron Man 2 was nothing but a stunt double and we werenât buying it.
What do you think of Jonesâ addition to the Captain America cast?
