Robin Williams To Play President Eisenhower And 'The Angriest Man In Brooklyn'

Robin Williams has signed on for a couple of exciting roles recently, and has joined the growing cast of The Butler for Sony Pictures and director Lee Daniels (Precious), where he will play the 34th President of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower. The film is a biopic about long-time White House butler, Eugene Allen (Forest Whitacker), who served eight presidents.

While Matthew McConaughey recently dropped off the production as President John F. Kennedy, the impressive line-up still includes John Cusack as Richard Nixon, Liam Neeson as Lyndon B. Johnson, and Alan Rickman as Ronald Reagan, with Jane Fonda playing Nancy Reagan. But it doesnâ€™t stop there, the list goes on with Alex Pettyfer, Oprah Winfrey, David Oyelowo, Minka Kelly, Cuba Gooding Jr., Lenny Kravitz and Terrence Howard.

Allen began his White House employment in 1952, under President Harry S. Truman. He retired in 1986, during President Ronald Reaganâ€™s second term in office.

Danny Strong co-wrote the screenplay with Daniels, and production is scheduled to start in the very near future. Excited?

After that, Williams will move straight on from The Butler to The Angriest Man in Brooklyn. Daniel Taplitz wrote the screenplay, centering on a man (Williams) who is wrongly told he only has 90 minutes left to live. He uses the time he has left to connect with his friends and family, while the young doctor (Mila Kunis) tries to track the patient down and tell him he was misdiagnosed. Phil Alden Robinson is directing, with shooting scheduled to begin in September.

In addtion to Kunis and Williams, The Angriest Man in Brooklyn will also star Peter Dinklage, Melissa Leo and James Earl Jones.

Both projects sound interesting, and weâ€™re curious to see how Williams tackles both roles.
