Gabrielle Giffords: Released from Hospital
Gabrielle Giffords has taken a major step on her path to a full recovery.
The Arizona Congresswoman, who was shot in the head by a crazed gunman in January, was released from a hospital in Houston yesterday. She will soon begin outpatient care.
"We are very excited that she has reached the next phase of her rehabilitation," said Dr. Gerard Francisco, the hospital's chief medical officer, who will continue to supervise Giffords.
Giffords's also spoke out, referring to his wife's time at TIRR Memorial Hermann and her road to come.
"Gabby gives her all to everything she does, and that's exactly what she's been doing at TIRR since January 26," said Navy Capt. Mark Kelly. "The remarkable progress she has made since then is a testament to both her single-minded determination to get better and the team of medical professionals overseeing her care."
Earlier in the week, Giffords released a pair of photos to her Facebook page. They were taken last month and show the progress made by this brave politician. A country is rooting for her.
