The awards season has officially begun with the Broadcast Film Critics Association’s 16th Annual Critics Choice Awards. Some of the big winners at this year’s show include Christian Bale for his supporting role in The Fighter, Inception for Best Action Movie, Toy Story 3 won for Best Animated Feature (no surprise there), and of course The Social Network won the biggest award of the night, Best Picture.

Inception was the most awarded film of the night, taking in six trophy’s but most of them were in technical categories. The Fighter took home three awards, all for acting with Bale, Melissa Leo, and Best Ensemble, while Natalie Portman and Colin Firth won Best Actor and Actress respectively.

We enjoyed The Social Network and thought it was a great film, but if Christopher Nolan or Inception don’t get some recognition come Oscar time it will be a serious injustice. Nolan missed out on Best Original Screenplay, Picture, and Score. Trent Reznor’s work on The Social Network was great, but who could get Inception’s theme out of their heads last year? No one. How did he beat Zimmer? We smell a set up for things to come.
