Hannibal Lector TV Series Is On The Way
Really, after news of a Sex and the City prequel series set in high school, a Point Break remake coming next year, and the fact that Tyler Perry is the highest paid man in show business, Hollywood is really doing everything it can to destroy all that is good and pure in the world. And now, news has leaked that the next target is destroying good films (and some lousy sequels) by taking the character of Hannibal Lector, and the world of the films that feature him, and giving him a TV show.
According to Coming Soon:
âFrench studio Guamont has announced the creation of Gaumont International Television (GIT), marking its foray into worldwide television production and distribution. Based in Los Angeles, GIT will be led by Katie OâConnell as CEO and Richard Frankie as COO⦠A number of projects are already in development, including âHannibal,â a one-hour drama written by Bryan Fuller⦠âHannibalâ will center on Lecterâs early days, namely his time going head-to-head with FBI agent Will Graham. The back story between the two characters were alluded to in Thomas Harrisâ novel âRed Dragonâ and the films Manhunter and Red Dragon.â
So, essentially, the excellent (and underrated) film Manhunter and the just plain bad (and not underrated) cash-in Red Dragon are gonna be stretched out into season-long television adventures. Which is cool, because, if thereâs one thing that TV doesnât have, itâs an hour-long drama based on a series of books that feature a highly intelligent serial killer continually outwitting the law in a series of cat and mouse games. *cough* Dexter *cough.
And, as you all know, we really need more Hannibal Lector movies, because those havenât been getting old at all.
What do you think of Hannibal?
