Netflix Introduces Pricing Increase
In an oh so stunningly brilliant move, the heads of Netflix have decided to take the one thing that makes it so brutally competitive and greatâ"extremely low pricesâ"and, well, not do that anymore. Translation? Netflix is doubling its prices.
According to The AV Club:
âSeemingly intent on phasing out of the physical distribution of DVDs and sloughing off those silver discs like so many dead scales, Netflix has announced that it intends to hike prices for customers who cling to that antiquated system, significantly raising the rate for its popular streaming video plus one-disc plan. Signs of that transition first emerged back in November, when it was decided that subscribers would be able to have access to both for just $9.99. According to a press release, thatâs now been restructured to force users to choose either the $7.99 unlimited Watch Instantly package or $7.99 for one DVD at a time.â
So, you either only watch DVDs, or you only view Netflix Instant, or you pay twice as much to do both. Why have you done this, Netflix, WHY? (Ok, I get that youâre doing it to phase out DVDs, an almost totally obsolete technology. I just needed a dramatic finish. You understand.)
What do you think of Netflixâs decision?
