Nick Lachey & Vanessa Minnillo were secretly married today
Do you hear that? That’s the sound of Jessica Simpson guzzling a box of wine, followed by a bottle of Scotch, followed by ten vodka shots. In other words, “Fridayâ€. No! Poor Jessica. Today is the day that her ex-husband got remarried to the little tartlet that was only supposed to be his rebound girl, Vanessa Minnillo. That other sound you hear? That’s the sound of Vanessa rolling on a bed of money from Nick’s divorce settlement from Jessica. Vanessa got the last laugh!
Talk about a day in paradise. Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey were married Friday evening in a tropical island ceremony in front of just 35 friends and family, their reps confirm exclusively to PEOPLE.
“For us, this is just a stepping stone to do what we ultimately want and that’s to start a family together,†Minnillo tells PEOPLE.
The pair, who became engaged in November, flew their wedding guests to the secret location as a surprise.
“Nobody knew where they were going,†says Minnillo, 30.
Adds Lachey, “Our wedding invitations were in the form of a plane ticket. We told them they were going away and the attire was ‘island chic.’ It was all very vague.â€
Minnillo, the new host of Wipeout, donned a two-piece Monique Lhuillier ensemble featuring an intricately embellished lace corset with rose and crystal detail, paired with a signature hand tufted skirt made of silk faille.
The look was completed with a tailored bow belt at her waist and chapel length tulle veil.
Lachey, 37, who hosts The Sing-Off, sported a Dolce & Gabanna suit.
Their wedding will be televised on a TLC’s special called Nick & Vanessa’s Dream Wedding premiering on July 30 from 9-11pm ET/PT.

Okay, does anyone else think her dress sounds WAY too frou-frou? Two piece Lhuillier, lace corset (with crystal details) and a hand-tufted skirt? Too much. Especially for a beachy wedding. I mean, every bride should make her own choices, etc, and I’ll definitely have to see photos of the gown for myself, but it sounds more like a prom dress for a 16-year-old than a wedding gown.
In any case, congratulations to the happy couple! They’re been together for so long, I think they’ve probably worked out all of the kinks in their relationship, and I hope they will be very happy. Babies soon, I’m thinking.

Congrats to the happy couple! I like how they had a small intimate wedding with only close friends and family. Makes it seem more genuine. And yeah, I thnk the babies will arrive probably within a year or so. They’ve had a long relationship/engagement.
I can’t even visualize the dress, but then I’ve never been good at design concets.

She is SO pretty. I’m glad she wasn’t a rebound. I was supposed to be the rebound girl too in my relationship…and 6.5 years and (almost) two babies later we’re still going strong!
Her dress does sound very frilly. But I’ll reserve judgement for when I see the pictures.

@MariPily: Not sure how genuine they are considering the second they got married they did an interview with People Mag. I think they wanted attention but it will probably get buried by the Mark Anthony/Jennifer Lopez divorce.
I doubt that Jessica is as depressed as people think she is because of Nick’s marriage. It’s also bizarre that people are giddy at the possibility she’s sad.

They seem like a nice couple and a good match. They didn’t rush into this and there’s never been any drama about their relationship. I definitely think they’re planning to start a family soon.
Good for them for having an intimate wedding with just their closest friends and family. Oftentimes, these celebrity weddings get totally out of control and the whole meaning of the day gets lost in the craziness.

Congrats to them! A marriage I definitely give thumbs up to lasting. After all they have been together for over 6 years (longer than most marriages in Hollyweird) Nick is a sweet guy and deserves the happiness he wanted with Jessica, but she was so dumb she let her Father mess it up. I do feel bad for her (Jessica) as I know she understands what she gave up when she quietly told her friends, “I wish Nick and I had lived in a small little town and nobody knew us.â€

I think McFarty Simpson is probably crying her eyes out drunk right now. I always suspected after she had all those bad relationships that she regretted leaving him. I got married on the beach (barefoot) in a very nice HEAVILY pearled (seriously, it weighed at least 15 lbs) cream-coloured mermaid halter dress, with a back-slit up to THERE. It was GORGEOUS. (Yeah, I know; the description doesn’t do it justice. Just TRUST ME.) Perfect for me. So if this dress was perfect for her, go ‘head on Vanessa!

For those of you who think Jess cares, she doesn’t. You can’t fake feeling. She married too young and lost interest. Timing is everything. Now timing seems to have brought her to her new guy, but I wonder if that will work or if she’s just tired of dating and wants to be in love and he wants her, So he’s her rebound guy after Tony, the football player. Tony was the one she hated to have lost to a cute young thing that he’s now married to or engaged. That’s the one that got away.
Now she’s stuck with a smart guy wit no job. who is maybe Mr. Now For Right Now. We’ll see.

I like Nick, but I saw Vanessa on a talk show once and wow, was she ever over the top with her opinions. She was extremely talkative and didn’t stop the entire time. I thought, wow, she’s pretty high maintenance. That was my first impression of her.

I used to watch The Newlyweds with Nick and Jessica and I thought he was a really grounded, relatable guy. He didn’t seem to be in the Hollywood mindset. I love Nick. Meh on Vanessa.

Now is the perfect time for Jessica Simpson’s paid escort to renegotiate his contract. With Romo and Nick happily married, her desperation to appear to be in a relationship must be in high gear.
The paid escort could demand anything. No need to settle for that $10,000/month she’s paying him now to pose as her boyfriend. He should tell her he’s walking unless she triples it.
And that $500,000 she offered him to go through with the wedding is insulting. Saving face in the tabloids is priceless to her. He should tell her he wants at least 25 million or he won’t show up.

I saw a commercial for the their wedding on TLC…and he dress isn’t THAT bad. The description provided/was released (that is in the article) does not make it sound appealing but when I saw it I was like, “Eh, not bad.â€

I’m happy for Nick (and Vanessa)! Mostly Nick though because he does appear to be a really nice guy. I don’t know much about Vanessa except she, apparently, has good taste in men!
I wish everyone would give Jessica Simpson a break. She’s not brilliant but she has parlayed what she has got (name recognition) into a very successful business empire. I thought she was immature and caricaturish (new word) on Newlyweds but surely she has grown up since then. I hope her love life turns out well. Maybe now that her ex is married, she’ll wake up and realize that his marital state in no way affects her life. I would hope that if she does marry whatever-his-name-is that she waits a year or so. I do think her engagement was a reaction to Nick’s engagement.

I dont like Nick. Ofcourse, sounds bad to say so if I dont know him at all, and his public rep. But just from watching his and Jessicas show, 1, or 2 times, he didn’t look like he’s that in love, as she did. And the way he danced at some show and halfnaked girls rubbed themselves against him… He had wife, and performing like he’s single, was not that atractive. And he’s voice, stagekarisma, wasnt a Singer’s performance. His candypretty face, and those sexy girls, made the show. But I wish them all the best. And Jessica is great girl.
