Nikita: Season 2 Episode 18: Power â TV Review
Oh how the tables have turned. Amanda and Ari go from top of the top to the bottom of the barrel in this weekâs Nikita. âPowerâ features a huge shift that leaves the vindictive pair out in the cold. Both Nikita and Percy thwart Amanda on different fronts, but at the same time. Has her winning streak finally come to an end?

The Players
- Director: Chris Peppe
- Writer: Carlos Coto
- Cast: Maggie Q, Shane West, Lyndsy Fonseca Aaron Stanford, Melinda Clarke, Xander Berkeley, Peter Outerbridge, Lyndie Greenwood
Amanda and Ari (guest Peter Outerbridge) prepare to make their move on Zetrov, but Nikita ruins their plans. Amanda and Nikita have multiple face-offs during this episode, in which they both âletâ the other live. Nikita also remembers her first meeting with Amanda, and the many tricks she taught her. Meanwhile, Alex successfully gets Ari fired from Zetrov and helps appoint Ilya Levkin as the companyâs new CEO. When the catâs away, the mice will play. Percy uses Amandaâs absence to return to his rightful place at Division. He came. He saw. He conquered.
The Good:- Dinaâs death: The episode started off with overzealous Dina (guest star Romina DâUgo) murdering an innocent scientist. Thankfully, she got her just desserts when she met up with Amanda. The scientist turned his back on Dina and got shot, Dina turned herâs on Amanda and got strangled. Can you say karma?
- Amandaâs softer side: âYou broke my heart.â Those were the words Amanda uttered to Nikita, while watching her âdieâ in a closed-off room. Our immediate response was, âWhat heart?â But she did hesitate to shoot her and immediately opened the airless chamber when she thought Nikita was a goner. Maybe sheâs not as cold we thought?
- Outfoxed: The teacher has become the master. As viewers, we know Nikita isnât dying anytime soon, but it was fun to see her beat Amanda at her own game. When Nikita gave her last breathe (faking her death), we almost expected her to pop up and shout, âScene!â
- Humor: There were a lot of funny moments this week, particularly from Nikita, Birkhoff and Alex. When they were creating their plan for the Zetrov break-in, we learned art isnât Alexâs strong suit. She drew Ari and Nikita as stick figures with the latter sporting 2 strands of hair. Everyone was thoroughly confused.
- Smooth talker: We get it. Percy can talk his way out of a noose, but can they show us something different? Every time heâs in a bind, he manipulates his captors with the gift of gab. Itâs getting repetitive. Itâs capture, talk, release and repeat. The fact that he walked into Division and took it over as quickly and easily was a bit underwhelming.
- Request connection: Speaking of ridiculous, why is Birkhoff accepting video/IM requests from unidentified sources? Granted, he probably has 20 firewalls and a fake IP address, but come on. Yes, him and Sonya (guest star Lyndie Greenwood) worked together in the past but he should have changed his connection once they completed their mission. That entire conversation was strange. Percy was literally sitting there watching Birkhoff talk with this woman.
It looks like the hunter has become the hunted. Even though Percy had a couple traitors inside Division, his coup was too easy. Poor Sonya never stood a chance. But Amanda had some great moments, and Melinda Clarke finally got to show some acting range. We canât wait to see whatâs next for her.
Rating: 7.5/10Nikita airs Fridays at 8 p.m. on The CW
