NBC Hires Steve Carrellâs Replacement For âThe Officeâ
Well, itâs officialâ"thereâs a new boss on The Office. In the wake of Steve Carrellâs (and his character, Michael Scottâs) high-profile exit from the show last season, most Office fans have been spending the summer speculating about who would replace the classic character and the great actor behind him. And now, according to The AV Club, NBC has announced the new addition to The Office via a press release:
You guessed it, James Spader.
âJames will reprise his role as Robert California, this uber-salesman that has a power to convince and manipulate, like a high-class weirdo Jedi warrior,â said Paul Lieberstein, one of the seriesâ executive producers and a series regular. âHeâll have been hired over the summer as the new manager, but within hours, got himself promoted. Within days, he took over the company. James has an energy that is completely his own, and âThe Officeâ has no tools for dealing with this guy. Weâre thrilled heâs joining our cast.â
Pretty good choiceâ"the Spades is a great comic actor; however, whether or not anyone can truly replace Carrell remains to be seen. Guess weâll find out this fall.
What do you think about Spader heading to The Office?
