âArrested Developmentâ Is Returning For One Final Season Before Film Adaptation
You know how thereâs been a series of long-running rumors that the beloved cult comedy series Arrested Development would get feature film, after only airing for three short seasons on Fox before the network gave it the axe? Well, the movie is still apparently happeningâ"that is, after the show returns to TV for one more season! Begin hyperventilating now.
According to The AV Club:
ââ¦creator Mitchell Hurwitz has now upped the ante to a movie and a return to series television for the show, telling an audience at todayâs New Yorker festival that a nine- or ten-episode âlimited-runâ fourth season of the show would help provide the prelude to the film that is still definitely happening, seriously. Adding further fuel to the flame, both Jason Bateman and Will Arnett later tweeted that both the movie and the next round of episodes would shoot next summer, probably seeing release sometime in 2013, while Bateman spoke for the rest of the assembled Arrested Development cast and crew in saying that âcreatively we are all on board.â
But, before you get your hopes up too high, as is the case in all things Arrested Development, there is the inevitable studio interference:
âWe donât completely own the property, there are business people involved and studios and that kind of thing,â he saidâ"as heâs always saidâ"adding that the expanded project ârequires studios to work together that donât typically work together, film and TV.â
But letâs just let this one, perfect moment in human history exist without cynicismâ"the one moment when the clouds broke, the sunshine burst through in our petty little lives, and the news that Arrested Development would get one final lap on our TV sets rained down upon us like holy light. Amen.
What do you think of the Arrested Development news?
