It was a smooth flight for the animated birds of Rio this weekend. The family film stayed atop the box office during its second weekend, beating Tyler Perry‘s Madea’s Big Happy Family and the film adaptation of the New York Times’ best seller Water for Elephants. In just over a week, Rio has been able to gross a hefty $81.2 million, while Water for Elephants (the other Fox picture) grossed $17.5 million and came in at No. 3. Another box office success is Hop â€" despite its competition, this animated film is still gathering gold. This weekend it went over the $100 million mark.
